Spring Fling

Our subdivision has a "Spring Fling" last weekend for the kids. The favorite was this inflatable slide. Grace wasn't sure if she wanted to go down alone but it wasn't long before she decided she could do it on her own. We are looking forward to 70 degree weather this weekend!

I like Q-tips

Yes I use them when their near
Yes I use them in their ears
Yes I'm careful when I choose
Yes I was awake, and not hitting snooze
But Gracie thinks it's so funny
To walk around like a big dummy!

OK, it's the best poem I could do with my time constraint, but Grace thinks she is hilarious when she put them in her ears and walks around with them sticking out. The boys were on the floor laughing which made her do it that much more.
I guess, I'm going to have to put them out of her reach....

Down by the Bay...

OK, so it's not the bay. It's the pond in our subdivision. It was an overcast but warm day and Grace had fun on her "independent" walk while throwing pebbles into the water.

Hurleys

So Chase is obsessed with his shoes. These are his latest purchase. Notice I said "his"? He decided this is what he wanted to spend his money on. He could buy a new pair every month. He is always on the lookout for what kind he wants next time. But if you watch carefully, he is continually looking down at his feet. He has ALWAYS had a shoe obsession!

Waiting for Summer

I blew up some "life-preservers" to use in my Primary object lesson and Tread decided to use one in his bath. He has been aching to use them in his "pool" and I keep having to explain, even though the weather is beautiful, it is not warm enough to go swimming. So I guess this is the next best thing!

Audrey & Carol-Lee

Last weekend was the Volunteer Appreciation Brunch at SunBridge Retirement Home where Audrey does her volunteer work. Carol-Lee is one of Audrey's favorite residents here. The activity director said Audrey was a blessing to her as well as the residents. She also mentioned that Ryan was a big hit when he accompanied Audrey. In the beginning, Audrey would run the Saturday morning activities alone and so Ryan or I would go with her until she felt comfortable with the routine. Reading the newspaper highlights, setting up and calling BINGO, etc. Apparantly the ladies enjoyed looking at Ryan more than they did listening to the news! They also said he didn't look old enough to have a 10-year old daughter. What does that make me? Old Maid?

More Easter

I have more Easter but have been having trouble posting them. We woke up to a very rainy Easter morning but by the time we got out of church it had warmed up and the sun was shining! The boys began ripping through their baskets before I could get a picture! My favorite part of Easter is watching the kids search for eggs. Every time Grace found one she had to check her basket to see how many she was accumulating. When she got the hang of it and saw so many eggs she was breathing really fast like she was saying "I've got to hurry, hurry, hurry!"

Happy Easter!

You've Been Peeped!

No, not a peeping Tom but the Easter peeps we all look forward to this time of year. If you don't know the story, Kathy & Tim went away for Easter one year and left a package of "peeps" in their drawer. When they came back to get them, mice had gotten into the package and left the half-eaten goodies as well as leaving their own "goodies" behind! Kathy hasn't been able to eat a peep since, so this year Amber & I decided to bring back a very bad memory and "peep" her house on Easter morning! We stuck them all over her front door and made a "peep kabob" on Kaitlin's car antennae. We also brought our own mouse and droppings made from tootsie rolls. We were sick from taking all the bites out of about 1/2 dozen packages of these sugar-covered marshmallow treats! Sorry Kath, but we couldn't pass this up!

Happy Birthday to Me!

It seems almost every year we hold a yard sale around my birthday. So as most of the day was spent setting up, Ryan prepared a little party with the kids and their cousins afterward. I told him there was a really cute "Little Mermaid" cake that I had seen while picking out Tread's cake and sure enough he got it! So the decorations were also centered around the "Under The Sea" theme. Mom cooked steak and potatoes and then the girls went out Friday night to dinner and shopping in downtown Boise while the guys watched the kids. Thanks boys! It was a fun evening! And oh yeah, I'm 29...again!

To Stupid To Live

Ok..it's that time of year again for the infamous yard sale...and the "TAG-SWITCHERS." It is so interesting because you can almost guarantee that you will have a group that comes to purchase a pile of items that are priced with someone else's stickers! Are they that desperate or just TOO STUPID TO LIVE? Do they really think that we won't notice that a $5.00 item wouldn't be sold for 0.25? Give me a break!

While straightening some clothing on a table a guy pulled up with his window rolled down and yelled "Do you have any alcohol?" Everyone is turning around with strange looks on their faces and as you look a little bit closer you realize...it's your brother! Shane has just come in from the airport for the Easter weekend. He'll do anything for a laugh!

Hot Chocolate

If there is one thing Tread can't live without, it's his morning cup of hot chocolate. When he is still half asleep, he will wander into the pantry, get the powder, he likes to stir his own and then lick the spoon. He likes it in a cup with a lid and it doesn't leave his lips until he is done! Everything must be in this particular order or his day just isn't right. What a funny boy! Although NOT the greatest breakfast drink...he just can't seem to open his eyes without it!

Rocket Racer

Grace insisted on putting this helmet on by herself and she did a fantastic job - except that it was backwards and too big! We have had such nice weather she has taken her bike riding from inside the kitchen to the back patio. Easter weekend is supposed to be 75 degrees! We are looking forward to the sunshine.

Love Notes

So this is what it comes down to; refrigerator magnets. Between soccer, school, scouts, activity days, work, church, housework and Audrey & Sheila's volunteer positions, Ryan and I never see each other anymore. So this is how we started communicating. But at least we know we're still thinking of each other...right?

Celebration Park

Chase got to go with Ryan on the 11-year old camp out at Celebration Park. He was so excited to go and it appears he had a lot of fun. He felt pretty "cool" being with the older boys and managed the 5-mile hike without a complaint. Way to go Chase!
